Sunroom

  • 1995

A dream of mine is to have a room with perpetually perfect humidity, floor-to-ceiling windows, and way too many plants. I imagine it would smell like stepping into a florist’s fridge, or the tropical plants section of the nursery. So that’s the picture I strove to paint, here.
Persian lime, styrax, damp moss, Hawaiian sandalwood, Peru balsam, rain, and green patchouli.

5 ml bottle or 1 ml sample vial - Classic carrier oil.  Phthalate-free.

Such a beautiful smell! It makes me think of Florida summers 🥰🥰🥰 I always get complimented when I wear anything from Nui Cobalt so you can’t go wrong with any smell!

Summer skin

While wet, this instantly reminds me of the log yard swing that lived on the property of my childhood home. I can almost feel the sunshine on my skin and the calming sway of the swing in the gentle breeze. I wish it lasted longer on my skin. It becomes a very gentle warm skin musk not long after application. Setting aside the fact that I wish the greenery lasted longer or that the scent was stronger in general, I do enjoy the warm summer memories this conjures up.

Sunroom

Oof, humid greens - I need more fragrances like this in my life, I feel instantly calmed after sniffing this. There is a beautiful duality of a slightly dank, damp moss smell and the refreshing scent of new rain. It smells like green leaves beaded with moisture and sunlight coming through the windows, warming the wooden furniture holding all the potted plants.

A soft glow

Of all the samples I had in my cart, I was most nervous about Sunroom, and I added and subtracted it a few times. I’m not always crazy about patch and when I tried to imagine the smell (lime, patchouli, sandalwood?) it seemed like it might be kinda intense. But I adore the inspiration, and Nui Cobalt often surprises me. This was one of those times.

Sun Room is beaaautiful. I have another “green house” perfume and by comparison, this one is actually much softer, warmer, more focused on mid and base notes than bright strong top notes. It feels like a glowing room to me, like a room full of sunlight and slightly sweet humid plant air. I still get some green notes on top, fairly gentle, and quite lovely. It invokes the inspiration beautifully for me. Sometimes atmospherics end up being smells I just smell in the bottle, but this one connects me to a feeling I want to live with throughout my day—that quiet, that warmth, that light.
