I collect Nui Cobalt's kitty fragrances because I feel drawn to them like I'm drawn to my own kitty familiars. Bakeneko really touches a special place in my heart and whenever I wear it, I think about my little Siamese Snowshoe (Chloe) who passed away 6 years ago. I found her when I was 15-years-old, during a time when I was being abused. She was severely underweight, bald, and just perfect to me. I nursed her back to health and she became the most beautiful, blue eyed little sweetheart, and then she helped me through some of the most difficult times of my life and was right there with me when I moved to another country and started a new, better life for us. She was always fiercely protective of me, even though she was so small, and I was just as protective of her. We made it out into a good, quiet life together. I still miss her every day and always will. I keep a whole shelf for Chloe on my altar at home and I haven't felt like any of the other kitty oils fit her, but I feel like this one does - this fierce, protective oil that makes me feel safe and strong when I wear it. I feel Chloe's presence in it. It also smells wonderful, like juicy, ripe, sweet, dark plums and hints of spice, toffee and warm, cuddly, yet fierce red musk. Fierce yet sweet and snuggly, like the little creature who would launch herself at a man 200 pounds heavier than her to protect her person, giving me all of the strength to protect both of us and find us a better life.
