there's a shut down mine near where family used to live famous for its fluorescent stones that we used to visit every summer. the tunnels were cool no matter how hot it was outside, the air perpetually damp and it smelled very pleasantly like turned up earth, plant roots and wet stone and the walls glowed brilliant oranges, reds and greens under black light so we loved it no matter how many times we'd taken the same tour.
this smells exactly like that, but more intentional, a little darker and with a bit of an almost sinister sweetness. it really evokes a feeling of being buried under the earth with pomegranate seeds in your pocket as your only food.
very self aware how stupid this is, I wanted to like this less because I hate the mythos of hades/Pluto. I find no romance in his kidnapping of his bride. so instead, my fondness of this smell translates it in my brain to the likes of Orpheus.
in a dramatic summary; if the underworld had a smell, this is it. theres a dark earthy edge from being in Hades realm, but a sharp red fruity note that peaks through from Persephone's presence. the patchouli and oudh act as the ever present smells lingering behind the whole scent, much like Eurydice walking solemnly behind Orpheus as he ascends back up to the surface. dark, dank, earthy and wild w a surpise bite of red fruit juiciness, this scent is beautiful as it is sinister. 10/10 to wear for those who love dark drama.
