On me this is a honeyed golden brown, almost a sassafras syrup with a deep, dark wood background. There's also a strong sense of orris (think violet pastilles). I think the vanillic tonka and iris combine to give that effect. The tonka also gives the impression of old paper now and then. Saturn is deep but comfortably stable rather than intimidating.

Wet in the bottle, this has a dark astringency to it, which I think comes from the black oud and myrrh. Once on the skin, that hard edge starts to smooth out, and I start to get the bergamot and iris. There is a smoky woodiness that I get coming through, and smooth, earthy patchouli. After it dries, there is a light freshness to it, and this is where the musk starts to shine. I was a bit intimidated by this one at first, but on the skin it's gorgeous and unique.
