I'm in Love with this company for starters I've never gotten something I didn't at least like let alone absolutely adore and this is no different. It's a very cozy almost kinda sweet atmospheric.

My creative writing go-to

This is a gorgeous academic scent. It reminds me of haunted historic libraries with massive fireplaces and lots of candles. I don't get a lot of cotton or 'clean' smell from it - instead I get the wood notes, tobacco, and leather-bound books with a hint of the vanilla. I write as a profession, but I also write novels. I put this on when I'm ready to switch from technical writing to creative writing. It puts me in the right mindset to let my ideas run wild. This one is also long lasting. If I fall asleep with it on, I can still smell it on me when I wake up. I'll definitely replace it when I run out.

Sweet but very subtle, it doesn’t last that long and requires a close and deep inhale to smell so… not really good for something you want to smell like. But smells so so good up close.

Clean and cozy

I've never tried Starlight and Spider silk but this is one especially gorgeous vanilla and cotton pale musk scent. I don't exactly smell detergent, (maybe only because I've never used one that smells only like cotton and vanilla?) This has a strong washed sheets on a line feel to it though. The pipe tobacco comes through and threatens to go sour before settling down completely. Really I only get the wood and leather as subtle darkening in the background, making the cottony vanilla stand out more. Super cozy.

Beautiful and enduring

The opening managed to surprise me, starting off with the pungent smell of laundry detergent which is no doubt coming from the cotton flower. As this facet of the scent mellows, the other notes emerge and transform the experience entirely. I’m left with the impression of a candle that has just been blown out and a sudden chill in the air. The leather in this is realistic without being overwhelming, bringing with it a sensual depth. Minus the fresh laundry which started this off, this is exactly how I hope Ernest Hemingway would smell. I don’t necessarily feel that a scent is more suitable for one gender over another, as I strongly believe that if you like it, you should wear it. However, I had two men in my life smell this and each one told me that it smelled like a men’s cologne. It’s a beautiful and enduring scent, lasting on my skin for more than 8 hours with the vanilla, leather, and a subtle musk being the most stable notes.
