Queen’s Bath

  • 1995

Many sites have taken this name in recent decades, but the original Queen's Bath of Kalapana was a freshwater grotto secluded in the forest, formed by a natural spring that filled a collapsed lava tube. Tragically, in 1987, it was destroyed by the Kilauea lava flow. As a child, I was fortunate to have been one of the last people to visit this sacred site. Its scent portrait balances cool floral notes of lotus, pikake, and tuberose with bracing springwater and moss-covered stone. Wear for bright blessings and to facilitate deep meditation.

Available in 5 ml bottle or 1 ml sample vial.

Cool, green floral

Leads with a burst of fresh-cut white flowers and bracing cold water. Like splashing your face in an icy spring. The pikake smells like the lovechild of lemon and jasmine. The lotus floating on the top of the lagoon smells like a real lotus -- tough outer petals and dirt and green sap inside the leaves. These are the freshest blooms this side of the florist's cooler. As it dries, the moss comes to the forefront and cradles the floral notes in a gentle fuzziness.

The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is that the tuberose and/or lotus has a slight powdery quality that comes and goes fleetingly. So it's a bit of a morpher. Still lovely.
