Mercury stations retrograde at 17 degrees of Aquarius at 7:54 am Pacific / 10:54 am Eastern. His reversal will take him again through the early half of the Water Bearer's sign before resuming direct motion on February 11th. This is a period for reflection and reconsideration of our most cherished ideals. The process of personal evolution requires that we occasionally change our minds about what truths we hold to be self-evident.  If the guiding principals of our adolescent years were identical to those of adulthood, we would have failed somewhere in the process of maturation. Under cover of night, the sun enters Aquarius, initiating a month of forward-thinking and weird science.  The New Moon occurs at 0° of Aquarius at 5:14 am Pacific / 8:14 am Eastern.  Luna then makes her first aspect of the cycle, a sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius, illuminating and enhancing the Water Bearer's influence.  We must exercise discipline, apply our best effort and master the rules of the game.  That is how we will learn to break them artfully.  

Venus in Aquarius opposes retrograde Jupiter in Leo.  Then, Mars conjoins Neptune in Pisces.  It's a tense day of telling truths and facing facts.  It takes a lot of love to bring unwelcome knowledge into the light.  People may not respond well; they may even resent us for speaking up.  But there are times when we must care more about our friends than we do about what they think of us.  

The Capricorn moon sextiles Mars and Neptune in Pisces.  Openness, kindness and deliberately sustained consciousness are aspects of character not usually associated with worldly achievement.  Yet, at the close of this very strange week, we find there is still more to surprise us.  The fundamental drive to find our place in the world, to establish a sense of purpose, is fulfilled by a passionate ambition, not for solitary success, but for a collective thriving.  The rising tide, as they say, lifts all the boats.  We see a bit further, past the notion of competition and toward the realization of unity. 

The waning moon in Sagittarius sextiles Mercury and Venus in Aquarius.  She then moves on to trine retrograde Jupiter in Leo.  Pieces fall smoothly into place and if wisdom prevailed during yesterday's chaos, we need not regret any premature decisions.  Today brings clear evidence of the virtues of patience and receptivity.
